Peace River, Alta. – On May 6, 2026, around 8:33 p.m., Peace River RCMP were notified of a two-day-old re-posted TikTok video related to threats to schools. Captions mentioned that Peace River was next. The owner of the account is unknown at this time. Peace River RCMP has been investigating these threats and has been in contact with the various schools, reviewing lockdown procedures and ensuring the safety of those within.

As of right now, there is no indication of an imminent threat to a specific location. RCMP are monitoring social media, patrolling the areas around the schools and investigating any information or leads that have come in thus far. Should the situation change, the schools, parents and public will be advised.

Peace River RCMP understands the stress related to these kinds of threats and school attendance is the prerogative of the parents and they should do what makes them feel safest. Should anyone feel the need to talk, the Western Alberta Regional Victim Serving Society (WestARVSS) can be reached by phone at 780 624 6626  or by email at peaceregional@westarvss.ca.
