Cold Lake RCMP lays drug charges after traffic stop

Cold Lake, Alta – On May 3, 2026, at approximately 10 p.m., the Cold Lake RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 55 near Cold Lake. During the stop the driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A search of the vehicle incidental to arrest revealed approximately 50 grams of suspected cocaine.

As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old resident of Cold Lake, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with release conditions, related to similar offences.

They were brought before the Justice of the Peace and released on conditions. They will appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on May 20, 2026.
