Wood Buffalo RCMP arrest prolific offender on outstanding warrants

Fort McMurray, AB – On May 7, 2026, at approximately 12: 25 p.m., the Wood Buffalo RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), with the assistance of RCMP Air Services, attended Chipewyan Prairie First Nation in an attempt to arrest a prolific offender with outstanding Provincial warrants for assault, failing to comply probation and flight from police.
Immediately upon observing RCMP, the offender fled on a quad. RCMP Air Services were able to maintain a visual of the suspect where they were observed attending a residence.
RCMP were able to arrest the offender prior to them entering the residence.
A 38-year-old resident of Chipewyan Prairie First Nation is facing charges:
- Fail to comply with probation order
- Flight from peace officer
The individual was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and was remanded into custody. They are set to appear next in the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray on May 11, 2026.

By proactively utilizing Air Services, we reduced the risk of harm to the public and police while attempting to arrest this offender.” says Staff Sergeant Sabrina Clayton, Acting Operations Support Officer Wood Buffalo RCMP.
