Airdrie Rural RCMP on scene at serious motor vehicle collision - Update

Rocky View County, Alta. – On May 10, 2026, at 10:39 a.m., Strathmore and Airdrie RCMP were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 9 and 564. Upon arrival, a GMC truck pulling a trailer and a Ford Escape were determined to have been involved. 

There were four occupants in the Ford Escape. An adult and a child were transported to Calgary hospitals, the child via STARS, where they remain in critical condition. Two individuals from that vehicle are deceased; one passed at the scene and one in hospital. The driver and sole occupant of the pickup was also transported to hospital in serious condition. 

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation continues. The Highway is still closed currently. 

RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and families involved.
