Red Deer RCMP arrest 3 youth for aggravated assault

Red Deer, Alta. – On May 4, 2026, at approximately 12:54 a.m., Red Deer RCMP responded to multiple 911 calls requesting assistance in the Oriole Park area of Red Deer.  

Police received reports of gunshots and a female voice screaming for help. 

On arrival, Red Deer RCMP General Duty (GD) members located a 15-year-old youth who had been severely assaulted. Red Deer GD members along with Red Deer RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS), Red Deer RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) and Red Deer RCMP Forensic Identification Section (FIS) collaboratively engaged in the investigation. 

As a result, three youth suspects, a 14-year-old, a two, 15-year-olds, all residents of Red Deer, were identified, located, and arrested a short time later. 

The victim sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

One of the two, 15-year-olds, has been charged with the following: 

• Robbery 
• Aggravated assault
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Failing to comply with a release order

One 15-year-old and the 14-year-old, have each been charged with aggravated assault. 

Following Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearings, the15-year-old and the 14-year-old were released with conditions to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on May 28, 2026. The 15-year-old was remanded into custody to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on May 7, 2026. 

As all parties involved are youth, no further information will be disclosed.
