Canmore RCMP investigating fatal collision

Canmore, Alta. – On May 11, 2026, at 12:23 a.m., Canmore RCMP received a call from a motorist who was driving on Highway 1, between Exit 89 and 86. The driver reported a body on the highway. 

Officers attended a located a deceased person. After an autopsy at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary, it was determined that the deceased is a 24-year-old, a  resident of Canmore.

RCMP is seeking public assistance. If you were driving this section of Highway 1, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. (May 10) and 1 a.m. (May 11), and may have dash cam or have seen anything, please contact Canmore RCMP at 403-678-5519.
