Fort McMurray, Alta – On May 12, 2026, at approximately 9:57 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of a stunt driving at the intersection of Cartier Road and Carteret Drive, in the Timberlea area in Fort McMurray.
Upon RCMP arrival, officers observed tire marks and smoke from burned tires. The suspect vehicle, a 2005 Red GMC Sierra, was located mid donut in the parking lot of Syncrude Athletic Park. A traffic stop was initiated with the vehicle where at the time the youth driver was issued a violation ticket for stunt driving under the Alberta Traffic Safety Act.
After the RCMP terminated the traffic stop, they learned the suspect vehicle and driver involved had also been stunt driving on the soccer field causing significant damage.
The 16-year-old youth, a resident of Fort McMurray, has been charged with mischief. The youth, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is set to appear in Alberta Court of Justice Court in Fort McMurray on July 7, 2026.
