Drayton Valley RCMP GIS makes arrest in drug trafficking investigation

Drayton Valley, Alta. - In March of 2026, members of the Drayton Valley RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) began an investigation involving possible drug trafficking, within the community, from a local residence. On May 5, 2026, the Drayton Valley RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Drayton Valley. As a result of the search, police located and seized multiple types of drugs, believed to be methamphetamine, fentanyl and a large amount of illegal cannabis, along with various illegal weapons. Stolen property was also located and seized. A total of 10 people were living within the residence, three of which were arrested and charged.

As a result of the investigation, the following Drayton Valley residents were arrested:

  • First individual, a 31-year-old was charged with:
    • Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
    • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x3);
    • Failure to comply with probation order; and
    • Possession of cannabis in excess of 30 grams.
  • Second individual, a 35-year-old was charged with:
    • Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
    • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x3);
    • Failure to comply with release order (x2); 
    • Fraud under $5000; and
    • Possession of cannabis in excess of 30 grams.
  • Third individual, a 35-year-old was charged with:
    • Possession of a controlled substance;
    • Possession of a prohibited weapon;
    • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and
    • Failure to comply with release order (x5).

The second and third individuals were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody while the first individual was released on conditions. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley on May 19, 2026.
