Wabasca RCMP arrest individual on outstanding Canada wide warrants and lay additional charges

Wabasca, Alta., - On May 13, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Wabasca RCMP located a male on Canada wide warrant from the Edmonton Police Service for armed robbery with a firearm, including other warrants from High Prairie, Alta.
As he was determined to be a high-risk to public safety, Wabasca RCMP set up a containment with surrounding businesses evacuated for precautionary reasons to ensure public safety.
Shortly before 2 p.m., the individual was safely taken into custody.
A 34-year-old, of no fixed address, is facing the following charges in addition to the existing charges already faced:
- Break and enter to residence;
- Theft of motor vehicle; and
- Obstruct peace officer.
The individual appeared before a justice at a judicial interim hearing and was remanded into custody. They are set to appear next on May 19, 2026, for a bail hearing regarding all their matters. This bail hearing will be done through CCTV at Red Earth Creek, and Edmonton (for their Edmonton matters).
