Maskwacis RCMP obtains arrest warrant after robbery with a firearm investigation

Maskwacis, Alta. - On May 17, 2026, at approximately 1 p.m., in Montana First Nations, Alta., two individuals, known to each other, robbed a male of his liquor while manipulation a rifle. The individual got away unharmed, while the blue SUV fled the scene with the two suspects.

Investigation revealed the identity of the individuals who drove away and a warrant was obtained for the arrest of Jesse Lee Roasting (36), a prolific offender, and a 38-year-old, both residents of Maskwacis. 

The 38-year-old has since been arrested and was charged with: 

  • Robbery with a firearm;
  • Possession of a firearm when prohibited; 
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle; and
  • Failure to comply with a release order (x3).

They were brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody, to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on May 19, 2026.

Jesse Lee Roasting was charged with the following offences and a warrant for his arrest is still active:

  • Robbery with a firearm;
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited (x3);
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle; and
  • Possession of a firearm knowing the possession is unauthorized. 

Jesse Lee Roasting remains at large and is considered to be armed. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to please contact the Maskwacis RCMP at 780-585-3767.
