High Prairie, Alta. – On May 19, 2026, around 11:47 a.m., High Prairie RCMP were informed of a TikTok post that had been seen by several school students indicating a threat to one of the schools in the High Prairie area. High Prairie RCMP, as well as High Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) and Western Alberta District GIS have been called in to assist on the investigation. Though the video mentions that this incident may happen on Friday, no school has been mentioned and RCMP are hard at work trying to identify the source of the video as well as the credibility of the threat. Until then, there will be an increased police presence at the local schools. Once more information is available, the public will be informed.

High Prairie RCMP understands the stress related to these kinds of threats and school attendance is the prerogative of the parents and they should do what makes them feel safest.
