Parkland RCMP arrest individual for assault with a weapon

Spruce Grove, Alta. –  On May 17, 2026, at approximately 4:38 p.m., Parkland RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in a parking lot near 70 McLeod Avenue in Spruce Grove. A male reported that two individuals were fighting when a third intervened and was stabbed in the back of the arm by one of the individuals involved. The suspect fled the area on foot. 

Police located a 24-year-old with a laceration to his arm. Patrols were conducted in the area to locate the suspect. Police later received a separate complaint from a member of the public regarding the suspect and located him near Weston Drive in Spruce Grove, where they were located without incident. 

A 39-year-old resident of Spruce Grove was charged with the following offences: 

• Assault;
• Assault while choking;
• Assault with a weapon; and
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x2. 

The individual was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released on a Release Order with their next court date of June 10, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Albert.
