Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. – On May 21, 2026, at 2:12 A.M., Fort Saskatchewan RCMP responded to a break and enter in-progress at a local business on 99 avenue and 100 street. Officers responded and located a pickup truck who immediately fled the scene upon police arrival. The truck rammed two marked police vehicles and fled on Highway 15 towards Edmonton. A pursuit was initiated and with the assistance of Edmonton Police Air Services, Alberta RCMP Real Time Operations Center, and neighbouring RCMP detachments a tire deflation device was successfully deployed on the suspect vehicle. A lone occupant was arrested and taken into custody on Highway 37 and Range Road 243 in Sturgeon County, Alberta.
A 43-year-old resident of Edmonton, has been charged with:
- Assault on a Police Officer x 2;
- Breaking and entering to a business;
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
- Flight from a Peace Officer; and
- Mischief over $5,000 to a motor vehicle x 2
The individual was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing and was remanded into custody until their next court appearance on June 4th, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan.
As this matter is now before the Court, no further updates are anticipated.
“Criminal flight and the property crimes often associated with it create significant risks for our communities,” says Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Scott Lande. “Suspects who choose to flee not only endanger the public but also escalate otherwise controllable situations. This incident highlights the strong, coordinated work of our RCMP members, whose proactive patrols and quick response helped bring the situation to a safe resolution.”
