Parkland RCMP attend fatal motor vehicle collision

Parkland, Alta. – On May 28, 2026 at approximately 2:42 a.m., Parkland RCMP responded to complaints of a 2 vehicle collision on Highway 16 westbound near the Highway 60 overpass. Upon attendance with the Parkland RCMP Reconstruction Unit, investigation determined that a grey Dodge Durango was travelling westbound on the highway when it struck a stationary scissor lift work platform.
The driver of the Dodge Durango, a 44-year-old resident of Spruce Grove, was pronounced deceased on scene. The construction worker who was in the bucket of the scissor lift was transported to hospital by EMS with serious injuries.
Both west and eastbound lanes of Highway 16 are currently closed and being diverted to the off ramps.
