Cold Lake RCMP makes arrest after numerous liquor store thefts

Cold Lake, Alta– Between May 3 and May 19, 2026, Cold Lake RCMP as well as Bonnyville RCMP responded to numerous liquor store thefts and robberies within the Cold Lake and Bonnyville jurisdictions. Liquor Warehouse, Sobey’s Liquor, Nap Liquor, One AM Liquor and Ace Liquor were all targeted during this time period.

Through a coordinated approach between both detachments, a single suspect was identified. On May 20, 2026, at 1 a.m., Bonnyville RCMP conducted a traffic stop on known offenders where the suspect was located and arrested without incident. Search incidental to arrest resulted in a firearm being located and seized from the vehicle. 

A 24-year-old resident of Cold Lake, was charged with the following offences:

  • Failing to Comply with a release order (x11);
  • Theft under $5000 (x2);
  • Robbery (x2);
  • Uttering threats;
  • Possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing a crime;
  • Possess weapon for a dangerous purpose (x2);
  • Possess firearm in a motor vehicle ; and
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville on June 16, 2026.
