Slave Lake RCMP CRU charges prolific offender after collecting DNA evidence

Slave Lake, Alta. – On May 26, 2026, Slave Lake RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) were able to arrest a prolific offender after linking him to multiple files dating back to 2021. These files include a Sept. 8, 2021, break and enter at the Native Friendship Center, a Nov. 7, 2023, break and enter at the Norther Alberta Psychological Services Office and a June 22, 2025, break and enter at Whitecap GMC-Chevrolet, all in the Slave Lake area. DNA was obtained at every crime scene, and, on Feb. 4, 2026, a DNA warrant was obtained and executed on a potential suspect. DNA results confirmed the suspect and on May 26, 2026, they were arrested for all three incidents.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old resident of Slave Lake, was charged with:

  • Break and enter (x3);
  • Mischief under $5000 (x3);
  • Theft over $5000; and
  • Theft under $5000.

The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Slave Lake on June 10, 2026.
