Grande Prairie RCMP responds to Arson call

Grande Prairie, Alta. – On June 3, 2026, around 8 :20 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP were called to assist Grande Prairie Fire Department with a building fire at a housing complex in Grande Prairie. Witnesses on scene pointed out a man they believed started the fire. The man was arrested and taken into custody. There were 5 people in the building, which was severely damaged, when the fire started but no one was seriously injured as a result.

As a result of the investigation a 50-year-old resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with:

• Arson;
• Mischief; and
• Mischief causing danger to life (x5).

The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on June 8, 2026.
