Parkland RCMP responds to vehicle collision with daycare

Stony Plain, Alta. –  On June. 4, 2026, at approximately 10:55 a.m., Parkland RCMP received a call that a van collided with a daycare in Stony Plain near 50 avenue and 48 street. Upon police arrival, the children inside had already been evacuated and accounted for by staff. One daycare employee was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. RCMP are working with daycare staff to reunite the children with their families.

The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody and is currently undergoing medical examination.

The building has since been evacuated due to a gas leak. Police are asking that the public avoid the area of 48 street from 50 avenue to 51 avenue. 

Parkland RCMP will update the public as soon as information is available.
