Three Hills RCMP charges four people in connection with two unrelated break and enters at the same location

Three Hills, Alta. - On June 6, 2026, at approximately 3:23 a.m., Three Hills RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a gas plant in Red Deer County. The security company for the site saw two suspects on video surveillance in the gated compound. The suspects stole fuel and fled. Police attended the area and located the suspects in a truck that had broken down on the side of the road. Both were arrested, and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Police located contraband tobacco, illicit cannabis, psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and break-in tools. 

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old and a 46-year-old both residents of Mirror, were charged with following, with Alberts additionally being charged with failure to comply with release order:

• Break and enter;
• Possess break-in instruments;
• Disguised with intent;
• Mischief – damage to property;
• Possession of a controlled substance;
• Possession of illicit cannabis;
• Trespassing; and
• Possess cigarettes/tobacco not marked for tax-paid sale.

Both were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on June 8, 2026.

On June 6, 2026, at approximately 1:21 p.m., Three Hills RCMP received a report of another break and enter at the same gas plant in Red Deer County. The security company observed two male suspects in the gated compound on video surveillance. The suspects stole fuel and fled in a truck with a stolen license plate attached. The vehicle was tracked to Red Deer with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP, Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services(PDS) and RPAS, as well as Blackfalds RCMP, where it was followed until it came to a stop in an industrial area. The male suspects were located and arrested. Police determined the vehicle was stolen and found break-in tools inside. Police also arrested a suspect who lied about their identity and was wanted on an arrest warrant.

As a result of the investigation, the following people were arrested:

A 30-year-old resident of Stettler, has been charged with:

• Break and enter;
• Possession of property obtained by crime;
• Possess break-in instruments;
• Failure to comply with release order.

A 29-year-old resident of Stetler, has been charged with:

• Break and enter;
• Possession of property obtained by crime;
• Drive while prohibited;
• Possess break-in instruments; and
• Disguised with intent.

A 23-year-old resident of Airdrie was arrested on their outstanding warrant and additionally charged with possession of property obtained by crime and obstruct peace officer.

All were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. The resident of Airdrie is scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on June 8, 2026, while the residents of Stetler are scheduled to appear before the same court on June 9, 2026.

Three Hills RCMP would like to thank Red Deer RCMP, PDS, RPAS, and Blackfalds RCMP for their coordinated effort. Their response resulted in the safe apprehension of the suspects and recovery of the stolen vehicle. Suspects driving a stolen vehicle can pose a risk to public safety. The units involved in their apprehension ensured no member of the public was harmed or placed in harms way. 

Three Hills RCMP would also like to thank Zedcor Security for their excellent response to the break and enters at the gas plant. The security systems installed at the site allowed police to investigate the matter fully and coordinate an effective response.
