Innisfail RCMP make arrest for vehicle theft

Clearwater County, Alta. – Innisfail RCMP make arrest and lay charges after vehicle stolen out of Red Deer, Alta. 

On June 10, 2026, Red Deer RCMP advised Innisfail RCMP, that a delivery van had been stolen from the parking lot of the Red Deer Resort and Casino. The van was reported to be driving west of Innisfail near highway 22, bordering the RCMP jurisdictions of Innisfail, Sundre, Sylvan Lake and Rocky Mountain House. 

With the assistance of Red Deer RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), members from each of these detachments located the vehicle and successfully deployed a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle. The suspect driver of the vehicle fled on foot into a rural wooded area. 

Alberta RCMP Air Services and PDS assisted with a search of the area, and the suspect was arrested without incident. The stolen vehicle was recovered. 

A 38-year-old resident of Clearwater County, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Theft of motor vehicle;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime;
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.

They were also arrested on two outstanding warrants for, theft of a motor vehicle and theft under $5000. 

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) the individual was remanded into custody to appear in the Alberta Cout of Justice in Red Deer on June 12, 2026.
