Clairmont RCMP advises of road closure after single vehicle collision - Update

Clairmont, Alta. – On June 16, 2026, around 9:10 a.m., Clairmont RCMP were advised of a large commercial vehicle going over the Wapiti River Bridge on highway 40 near Range Road 704. RCMP responded as well as local Fire Department and several search and rescue volunteers. The vehicle remains submerged and the cause of the collision is still under investigation. The status of the driver is unknown at this time. 

A Southbound lane has since reopened for travel. For the most up to date travel information, consult Alberta 511.
