Kitscoty, Alta. – Kitscoty RCMP is warning residents about an individual who attended a residence in the Village of Marwayne, Alta., stating he was with ATCO electric. The male requested that the homeowner remove a lock from electrical equipment in their yard and stated that he was going to turn off their power. When challenged regarding identity, the male refused to provide identification or a business card. The male also positioned himself in a manner to prevent the homeowner from obtaining a view of the rear of the vehicle and continually moved to prevent this view. Due to the homeowner becoming suspicious and not complying with his requests the male departed the location. The homeowner contacted ATCO and was advised they had no one in the area assigned to be at their residence.
The male is described as:
- Medium complexion
- Approximately six feet tall;
- Approximately 190 to 200 pounds;
- Curly black hair with a beard;
- Wearing jeans, a button up shirt and a blue vest with yellow reflective stripes; and
- Driving a newer, possibly 2020 to 2024, two door white Dodge pickup truck.
Kitscoty RCMP would like to remind residents to remain vigilant and always ensure to request identification of unexpected persons attending their residence or contact the company the person claims to be working for to confirm the identity prior to letting them into your home or complying with any requests.
Kitscoty RCMP remains dedicated to contributing to safe homes and communities. If you, or anyone you know, is involved in this type of encounter, please contact the RCMP immediately.
