Alberta RCMP WAD CRU executes arrest warrant

Atikameg, Alta. – On June 15, 2026, High Prairie RCMP requested assistance from Alberta RCMP Western Alberta District (WAD) Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) in order to locate and arrest an individual for whom a warrant was issued. The warrant was in relation to two files out of High Prairie, one being an armed robbery on June 4, 2026, and the other being possession of stolen property on June 5, 2026. On July 16, 2026, RCMP WAD CRU, with assistance from High Prairie RCMP, Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services and Emergency Response Team, located the wanted individual who, after resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer, was arrested. A firearm was also seized at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old, of no fixed address, who had been charged with 16 offenses in relation to the warrant, was additionally charged with:
- Assaulting a police officer;
- Possession of a firearm while prohibited (x4, linked to 4 different court orders);
- Possession of a firearm without a license; and
- Resisting a police officer.
They were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in High Prairie on June 22, 2026.
