Westlock RCMP arrest individual for impaired driving

Westlock, Alta. – On June 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., Westlock RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver leaving the Provincial Court of Justice building in Westlock, Alta. 

RCMP were advised that a male driving a grey van had driven to his probation appointment impaired by alcohol and was leaving the location. 

Upon arrival, responding officers initiated a traffic stop. The driver refused to provide samples of his breath in relation to an impaired operation by alcohol investigation and was arrested. 

33-year-old resident of Busby, Alta. has been charged with the following:

  • Resist Arrest; and
  • Fail to comply with a probation order. 

The were also charged with a provincial sanction for refusing to comply with a breath demand and operating a motor vehicle while impaired. 

Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) Hearing, the individual was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Cout of Justice in Westlock on July 8, 2026.
