Canmore RCMP respond to drowning at Quarry Lake

Canmore, Alta. – On Aug. 1, 2026, at approximately 5:47 p.m., Canmore RCMP received a report of a struggling swimmer in the water at Quarry Lake in Canmore.
Witnesses reported seeing an individual in the water without a life jacket who disappeared and did not resurface with several other people trying to locate them.
Canmore RCMP along with Alberta Conservation Officers, Canmore Fire and Emergency Services attended the area and located the 33-year-old resident of Rocky View County, Alta. under water, however they were pronounced deceased. The deceased has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The RCMP offer our sincerest condolences to family, friends, and the community.
Canmore RCMP would like to remind everyone to prioritize safety when engaging in water activity in or on Quarry Lake and other waterways.
