Brooks RCMP investigating suspicious incident involving incendiary devices

Brooks, Alta. - Brooks RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in suspicious incident involving incendiary devices.

 

On Aug. 2, 2026, at 1:34 a.m., Brooks RCMP responded to a report of an unknown suspect throwing two incendiary devices towards the backyard of a residence on South Shore Drive in Brooks causing a small contained fire on the deck. The suspect immediately fled the area.

Brooks RCMP attended the scene with Brooks Fire Services who ensured the fire was extinguished. Police learned that there was also several windows broken on a truck parked at the residence and a window to the basement of the residence was also damaged. 

No one was physically injured during this incident. 

Brooks RCMP continue to investigate what is believed to be a targeted attack and are asking anyone who may have information about this investigation including any video doorbell camera or surveillance camera footage from Aug. 2, 2026 between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m., to contact Brooks RCMP at 403-362-5535.
