Maskwacis RCMP charge one adult and one youth with firearms offences

Maskwacis, Alta. - On Aug. 6, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP responded to a 911call for threats with a firearm at a residence in Louis Bull Nation.
The victim reported that two male suspects had entered the residence with a firearm and were threatening to shoot their son. The two males evaded police and fled the area on foot. The investigation led police to a nearby residence, where both male suspects were located and arrested without incident.
With the assistance of the Maskwacis RCMP General Duty and Maskwacis RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), a search warrant was executed at a nearby residence.
As a result of the search warrant and investigation a 23-year-old and a 17-year-old both residents of Maskwacis have been charged with the following:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Carrying a concealed weapon; and
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
Following a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearing the 23-year-old was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on Sept. 1, 2026.
The 17-year-old youth was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released from custody with conditions. The youth is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on Sept. 2, 2026.
