Wood Buffalo RCMP seek witnesses in sudden death investigation

Fort McMurary, Alta – Wood Buffalo RCMP are seeking witnesses into a sudden death investigation from 2024. Back on Jan. 13, 2024, at approximately 4:13 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive male on Nokohoo Road in Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, south of Fort McMurray. Life saving measures were attempted by Regional Emergency Services, however the (age) male was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Jan. 15, 2024, and the manner of death was deemed to be suspicious. 

“Investigations can be complex and, at times, lengthy. As the investigation continues, new information can emerge that may prove to be valuable and assist in establishing a clearer understanding of the circumstances. “says S/Sgt. Mike Robinson, Acting Investigative Services Officer of Wood Buffalo RCMP “Regardless of how minor someone believes the information to be, even the smallest detail may prove significant in this investigation.”
