Fairview RCMP arrests known offender

Fairview, Alta. – On Sept. 11, 2026, Fairview RCMP received numerous calls regarding a suspicious vehicle being driven by a known prolific offender. The vehicle was spilling large quantities of diesel fuel on the highway. Fairview RCMP responded, with assistance from Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, as the suspect was known to flee from police. No attempts to stop the vehicle were made until it was safe to do so. Once safe for the public, the vehicle was stopped and the driver and passenger were arrested.
As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-olda resident of Fort McMurray, and a 46-year-old resident of Grimshaw, Alta., were charged with possession of stolen property over $5000. Additionally, the resident of Fort MacMurray was charged with:
- Possession of stolen property;
- Fail to comply with probation;
- Drive while prohibited; and
- Several Traffic Safety Act related offences.
Both were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Fairview on Sept. 14, 2026.
