Bassano RCMP investigating fatal collision

Newell County, Alta. – On Nov. 1, 2026, at 12:06 a.m., Bassano RCMP was notified of a motor vehicle collision at Highway 550 and RR 165 between a sedan and a pick-up. Bassano Fire and EMS also responded. The two occupants of the sedan were transported to hospital with what is believed to be serious injuries. There were two occupants in the pick-up. Unfortunately, the driver, a 15-year-old Bassano resident, was declared deceased at the scene. The youth passenger received minor injuries. 

The RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the cause of the collision is under investigation. 

RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
