A Duncan man is facing four charges for an alleged impaired driving collision that killed a man

A 49-year-old Duncan man has now been charged after a year-long BC Highway Patrol investigation into a deadly collision on Highway #1 on Vancouver Island.
On March 1, 2025, just after 7:00 p.m., a black Dodge Ram pickup collided with a blue Dodge Ram in the northbound lanes of Highway #1 and Boys Road in Duncan. The 72-year-old Duncan man who was driving the blue Dodge Ram was seriously injured while his 62-year-old passenger, a Victoria man, was killed.
On April 18, 2026, the alleged driver of the black Dodge Ram, 49-year-old Iain Lemon of Duncan, was served a court Summons for the following charges:
- Impaired driving causing death, section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code,
- Impaired driving causing bodily harm, section 320.14(2) of the Criminal Code,
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, section 320.13(3) of the Criminal Code,
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, section 320.13(2) of the Criminal Code.
Lemon’s next court appearance is scheduled in Duncan Provincial Court for May 26, 2026.
