A 50-year-old Surrey man is dead after a single-vehicle collision on Highway #1, and criminality is not suspected to be the cause of the crash.
Police were called by other motorists on June 24, 2026, just after 1:00 p.m., when an older-model white Ford F-350 pickup with a camper drove off the road on Highway #1 eastbound at Flood Hope Road, near Hope, BC. The truck landed in terrain that was rocky and difficult to access, and in spite of the efforts of first responders, the driver and lone occupant was declared dead at the scene.
The collision required a partial closure of the eastbound lanes while police investigated, but Highway #1 has now fully reopened.
