Coquitlam RCMP - 2026 Junior Mountie Police Academy
Coquitlam RCMP is sorry to inform the community that the Junior Mountie Police Academy, traditionally held each July for youth aged 10-14, will not be taking place in 2026. Due to competing operational priorities this year, we are unable to deliver the program at the standard we would like to.
We are grateful for the continued interest and enthusiasm from our community. This was a difficult decision, as the Junior Mountie Police Academy is one of our most valued youth initiatives—one that fosters leadership, teamwork, confidence, and positive connection between youth and the RCMP. We understand this news may be disappointing to many families and young people who look forward to the camp each year.
We are pleased to confirm that the Junior Mountie Camp will return in 2027, and planning for this engaging program is already underway.
Officers and staff will continue to be active and engaged in our communities throughout the year. Please continue to check our Event Page and social media channels (Facebook and X) for upcoming community events.
Thank you for your understanding, and continued support of Coquitlam RCMP’s youth and community programming. If you have any questions, please contact our Community Policing section.

Junior Mountie Police Academy obstacle course
Junior Mountie Police Academy (JMPA)
Coquitlam RCMP hosts a week-long program giving youth a glimpse into the many teams, tools, and tactics used within policing. This unique camp is geared towards kids ages 10 to 14 years old.
The camp is offered at no charge to residents of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore, Belcarra, and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) First Nations.
Our Junior Mountie camp provides kids with real life demonstrations from specialized police officers, working both their minds and their bodies. Our campers participate in numerous hands-on, fun educational activities, some of the engaging exercises include:
- Drills and marching instructed by an RCMP Drill Sergeant
- Physical training, including obstacle courses
- Hands-on police sciences (e.g. Fingerprinting)
- Demonstrations (e.g. a police dog service demonstration)
On the last day of camp parents are caregivers are invited to join Coquitlam RCMP and all Junior Mountie Cadets and Corporals at a Red Serge Graduation Ceremony where campers demonstrate their hard work on the last day of camp.
