Smithers RCMP file: 2026-1096
Smithers RCMP are providing an update on a file first shared publicly on April 27, 2026, involving a theft from a local business and threats made toward a police officer.
On May 19, 2026, Logan Solonas was sentenced in relation to:
- Theft under $5,000
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
The court imposed:
- 96 days jail
- 12 months probation
- 5-year discretionary firearms prohibition
This file was originally shared because police were aware the repeated behaviour was having an impact on local businesses and community members. Providing court outcomes helps close the loop with the public and supports transparency with our community.
When we share information about a file that has affected community safety, we will try to provide court outcome updates more often once those matters have moved through court.
Court outcomes are also publicly available through B.C. Court Services Online, where members of the public can search Provincial Court criminal files.
We will continue working with businesses, community partners, and the justice system to respond to repeat offending and the broader social challenges connected to many of these files.
