Pay and benefits
Being an RCMP police officer gives you access to a world of opportunity, adventure and growth. There are many benefits, both in terms of salary and lifestyle.
Cadet recruitment allowance
Cadets receive an allowance during the 26-week training program at the RCMP's training academy, Depot. The current cadet recruitment allowance is $1,000 per week. The maximum cadet recruitment allowance payable is $26,000 for the 26-week training period, to be paid on a bi-weekly basis, that is $2,000 every two weeks.
The RCMP also covers the cost of accommodations, uniform, training courses, insurance and travel to and from Depot in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Cadets are required to follow the RCMP Core Values: Acting with Integrity, Showing Respect, Demonstrating Compassion, Taking Responsibility, and Serving with Excellence at all times while in training. Cadets whose training contracts are terminated because of core values violations or Probationary Members who leave the RCMP during the two-year probationary period for Code of Conduct violations or to join another police service will be required to repay the full cadet recruitment allowance received from the day they started the training.
