Experienced Police Officer Program
The Experienced Police Officer (EPO) Program provides a pathway for qualified police officers from municipal, provincial, territorial, and Indigenous police services to join the RCMP and contribute to Federal Policing operations. Experienced officers bring valuable investigative expertise, operational knowledge, and leadership experience that can support some of Canada's most complex criminal investigations.
RCMP regular member
Many Federal Policing employees begin their careers as RCMP regular members. This pathway allows officers to develop frontline policing experience and investigative skills before pursuing specialized opportunities within Federal Policing.
The typical career pathway begins with Cadet training, progresses to general duty policing, followed by the development of specialized experience, and can ultimately lead to opportunities in Federal Policing.
Federal Policing positions are most often staffed by experienced RCMP members who have developed strong investigative and operational expertise throughout their careers.
