Disclose police information on a routine basis

On this page

As a part of the RCMP's ongoing commitment to greater transparency, the RCMP is continuing to publish annual reports on police intervention options (use of force), occurrences and employee equity and diversity.

The report on police intervention data continues to provide annual updates, broken down by provinces and territories, as well as a breakdown of the type of intervention, subject and officer injury, and, subject characteristics (for example, whether the subject was perceived to be under the influence of a substance). This report also provides other relevant updates, such as changes to officer training and other initiatives.

The 2022 report was published earlier this year and work is ongoing for the 2023 report. The data continues to highlight that 99.9% of all occurrences are resolved without the use of force.

Why it matters

As part of the RCMP's ongoing commitment to increased transparency, the RCMP is sharing more information with the public to build trust.

The RCMP will continue to disclosure this information and take action to increase transparency, as is outlined in the RCMP's Transparency and Trust Strategy.

The RCMP will continue to release this information on an annual basis. The 2021 data will be released in Fall 2022.
