31-year-old man charged in connection with death of 26-year-old woman

A 31-year-old man from Musquash, N.B. has been charged in connection with the death of a 26-year-old woman from Rothesay, N.B.

On April 15, 2025, the St. George RCMP detachment received a report of a missing 26-year-old woman from Musquash.

On April 17, the Major Crime Unit took carriage of the investigation, and the same day, located the woman’s vehicle and her body in Maces Bay with the assistance of Police Dog Services. The woman was later identified as 26-year-old Sarah Teakles.

On April 21, a 31-year-old man, who was already in custody on unrelated matters after being arrested by the Saint John Police Force, was arrested by the New Brunswick RCMP in connection with the investigation.

On April 22, Calvin Burns-Smith appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was charged with manslaughter, and indignity to a dead body. He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on April 28 at 9:30 a.m.
