Update, June 24, 2025: The New Brunswick RCMP is still seeking help from the public to locate missing 79-year-old woman, Ruth Carol Sutton, who was last seen on May 25, 2025, on Mallard Drive in Grand-Bay Westfield. Last week, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team searched a large body of water near where Ruth Carol Sutton was last seen. Additional searches have also been conducted by RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System pilots. Police are asking the public in the Grand Bay-Westfield area to keep an eye out, especially if you are in the woods or on the water, for any signs of Ruth Carol Sutton, or her clothing. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP at 506-757-1020.
Update, May 28, 2025: The missing person investigation remains open and active. Police continue to encourage residents in the area to search their properties, outbuildings, vehicles, and to report any signs of Carol Sutton or her clothing. We are still looking for any surveillance video from the areas of Mallard Drive, Teal Street, and Nerepis Road. If you have not yet provided your surveillance video, please submit it to police as soon as possible. An increased police and first responder presence is still expected in and around the area despite the ground search and rescue being suspended.
Update, May 26, 2025, 5:45 p.m.: Police, Specialized Policing Services and GSAR teams continue to search the Grand Bay-Westfield region for missing 79-year-old Ruth Carol Sutton.
Police have since gathered new information and now believe that she was last seen wearing a tan colored Tilley hat, a light blue jacket, rubber boots to her ankles, and white socks.
Police are also asking residents to check their properties, outbuildings (sheds, garages) and vehicles for any signs of the missing woman.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP at 506-757-1020.

The Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP is asking for the public’s help to locate a missing 79-year-old woman from the community.
Ruth Carol Sutton (Carol) was last seen on May 25, 2025, at approximately 9:10 a.m., walking on Mallard Drive, in Grand Bay-Westfield N.B. She was reported missing to the police the same day. Police have followed up on several leads to try to locate her, but have been unsuccessful so far. Police and her family are concerned for her wellbeing. She suffers from a medical condition that may cause her to become disoriented.
Ruth Carol Sutton is described as being approximately five feet, two inches (157 centimeters) tall, and weighing approximately 130 pounds (59 kg). She has blue eyes, and white hair. She was last seen wearing a light blue jacket.
Police, Ground Search and Rescue teams, and other Specialized Policing Services, including Police Dog Services, are currently in the area conducting a search. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP at 506-757-1020.
