Today, the New Brunswick RCMP celebrated a Change of Command Ceremony at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Gagetown, marking a new chapter for the Division. The ceremony signified the leadership transition from former Commanding Officer DeAnna Hill to the newly appointed Assistant Commissioner Matco Sirotic, who is now the 32nd Commanding Officer of RCMP's J Division in New Brunswick.
RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme, along with other special guests and RCMP New Brunswick employees, attended the ceremony.
“I am honoured to be in New Brunswick today to officially welcome Assistant Commissioner Sirotic as the new Commanding Officer of J Division," said Commissioner Duheme. "His leadership, dedication, and deep understanding of policing will serve the province well. I have full confidence in his ability to guide the New Brunswick RCMP with integrity and commitment. I also want to express my sincere gratitude to Deputy Commissioner DeAnna Hill for her leadership and contributions in the role. Her impact on the RCMP has been significant, and I wish her all the best in her well-earned retirement."
Assistant Commissioner Sirotic took on his role as Commanding Officer on December 13, 2024, following his tenure as the Officer in Charge of Specialized Policing and Operational Support Services in New Brunswick. Visit his biography page for additional information.
“It is an incredible honour to serve as the Commanding Officer of the New Brunswick RCMP,” said Assistant Commissioner Sirotic. “The dedication and professionalism of our members and employees are truly inspiring. Their commitment to public safety and community service is unwavering, and I am eager to continue working alongside them to uphold the highest standards of policing across our 38 detachments in the province.”
Steeped in military tradition, the Change of Command Ceremony is a time-honoured symbol of leadership and continuity within the RCMP. The event was marked by the ceremonial exchange of the J Division Ensign, symbolizing the transfer of command of the Division to Assistant Commissioner Matco Sirotic. The official signing of the Command Parchment solidified this significant transition and marked the beginning of a new chapter for the New Brunswick RCMP.
