A 29-year-old man from Beaubassin East, N.B., has been charged in connection with a homicide in the community.
On June 21, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., members of the Shediac RCMP detachment received a report of a missing 67-year-old man, who was last seen on Collins Lake Road in Beaubassin East.
At approximately 6 a.m. on June 22, police located the body of the 67-year-old man in a wooded area near his property. Over the course of the investigation, police identified a person of interest and at 10:10 a.m. the same morning, a 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the investigation.
On June 23, Philippe LeBlanc appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with first-degree murder. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing.
