A total of 31 firearms were seized, and six men and a woman have been arrested in connection with a drug-trafficking investigation in southeastern New Brunswick.
In the fall of 2024, members of the Provincial Crime Reduction Unit (PCRU) began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in southeastern New Brunswick.
On May 27, 2025, PCRU, with the assistance from Codiac Regional RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, members of Codiac Regional RCMP, the Southeast Community Crime Reduction Unit, the RCMP Police Dog Services, the Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit, as well as the New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit, executed search warrants simultaneously at six separate locations in Moncton, Riverview, and Hopewell Cape area in connection with the investigation.
As a result of the searches, police seized significant quantities of what are believed to be cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, isotonitazene, hash, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and money. Police also seized 31 firearms, which included loaded and assault-style weapons. Two vehicles were also seized as part of the investigation.
During the operation, police arrested seven individuals: a 49-year-old man, 34-year-old man, 22-year-old man, 18-year-old man, and a 25-year-old woman, all from Riverview along with a 46-year-old man from Hopewell Cape and a 27-year-old man from Moncton. All seven individuals were arrested without incident in connection with the investigation and later released. They are scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on September 17, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
"This is an important seizure for New Brunswick and I’m very happy with the result, however, we know there are more illegal guns out there," said Inspector Dan Richardson with the New Brunswick RCMP. "The presence of illegal and improperly handled weapons increases the danger to the public and to police during routine calls, traffic stops, and emergency responses. Please call police and report it if you suspect illegal activity is going on in your neighbourhood. You know your neighbourhood best.”
The PCRU is a unit within the New Brunswick RCMP and focuses its efforts on disrupting and dismantling illicit firearm and drug trafficking organizations within in our province, and who often cause the most harm in our communities.
The public also plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs and firearms. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
The investigation is ongoing.
