Update: 36-year-old man dies following two-vehicle collision

Update (July 10, 2025): On July 6, 2025, a 26-year-old man from Elsipogtog, N.B., was arrested in connection with this incident. On July 9, 2025, 26-year-old Janitzio Caravantes appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand, accident resulting in death (alcohol), operating a motor vehicle while suspended, failure to stop after an accident resulting in death and operation while impaired. He was released from custody and is scheduled to return to court at a later date.

A 36-year-old man from Riverview, N.B., has died following a two-vehicle collision on Route 11, near Saint-Louis-de-Kent, N.B.

On July 6, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m., members of the Richibucto RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Route 11, between exit 75 near Saint-Louis-de-Kent and exit 64 near Saint-Charles, N.B.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the car, travelling southbound on Route 11, struck a motorcycle travelling in the same direction. 

The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver of the car was transported to hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Members of the Richibucto Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office attended the scene. A New Brunswick RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation.

Both lanes of Route 11 were closed for several hours and have since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
