Eight-year-old boy dies following collision

An eight-year-old boy has died following a collision between a vehicle and a moped in Haut-Sheila, N.B.

On October 24, 2025, at approximately 6:51 p.m., members of the Tracadie RCMP, Tracadie Fire Department, and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a moped. The collision occurred at the intersection of Route 370 and Edmond Road in Haut-Sheila.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the vehicle, travelling northbound on Route 370, struck the moped, also travelling northbound on Route 370.

An eight-year-old boy from Saint-Pons, N.B., the passenger on the moped, was transported to hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the moped, a 17-year-old boy, also from Saint-Pons, was transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious injuries.

The occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
