The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested three people in connection with conspiracy offences following an illegal border crossing in Grand Falls, N.B.
On April 15, 2025, members of the Eastern Region RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime (FSOC) Border Integrity Unit were advised by United States Border Patrol that an individual from China had been arrested for illegally crossing the border from Canada into the United States, near Grand Falls.
As a result of a subsequent investigation by members of the Eastern Region RCMP FSOC Border Integrity Unit, Canada Border Services Agency, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, police were able to identify three individuals who were conspiring to bring individuals from China into Canada, with an end goal of smuggling them into the United States.
On October 7, 2025, members of the New Brunswick RCMP with assistance from the Ontario RCMP, arrested three individuals in the Toronto region: a 38-year-old man, a 24-year-old man, and a 34-year-old man.
All three individuals were later released, and the investigation is ongoing; however, police believe that the three arrested individuals were part of a larger network involving more people.
Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal activity involving the border is asked to contact their local police. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
