A 28-year-old man from Listuguj, QC, has been charged after police seized a loaded firearm following a traffic stop in Campbellton, N.B.
On October 17, 2025, at approximately 2:09 a.m., a member of the Campbellton RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Duke Street, in Campbellton. When the driver, a 28-year-old man, exited the vehicle, police observed a firearm in plain sight.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving, and the vehicle was subsequently searched. During the search, police seized a loaded, unsecured firearm, ammunition, a bullet proof vest, brass knuckles, and drug paraphernalia.
On November 3, 2025, 28-year-old Drake John Eric Guitard Metallic appeared in Campbellton Provincial Court and pled guilty to the following charges:
- Three counts of failing to comply with a release order
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Driving a motor vehicle while suspended
He was sentenced to 27 days in jail, followed by 12 months of probation, and received a $1,500 fine. He will be prohibited from possessing firearms for 10 years and prohibited from driving for 12 months.
