36-year-old man sentenced in connection with child pornography investigation

A 36-year-old man from Fredericton, N.B., has been sentenced to five years in prison following an investigation into child pornography.

The investigation, led by the New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, began in July 2024, following information received from the RCMP's National Child Exploitation Crime Centre. On July 3, 2025, 36-year-old Travis Carrier was charged with several offences in connection with the investigation.

On August 19, 2025 Travis Carrier appeared in Fredericton Provincial Court and plead guilty to the following offences:

  • Possession of child pornography
  • Transmission of child pornography
  • Luring a child he believed to be under the age of 18 to commit an offence
  • Luring a child he believed to be under the age of 16 to commit an offence
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking

On November 21, 2025 Travis Carrier was sentenced to five years in prison. Additionally, he will be required to provide a DNA sample, will be on the National Sex Offender Registry for 20 years, and will be prohibited to possess firearms for 10 years. Following his release from prison, he will have to abide by conditions set out by the court, including not communicating with anyone under the age of 16, and to not attend any place that someone under the age of 16 is known to be, for a period of 10 years.

The New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation Unit includes member from the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force.
