Update: December 1, 2025: On November 18, 2025, following an investigation led by the RCMP’s Southeast District Crime Reduction Unit, 22-year-old Kaste Blacksmith from Quebec, Qc, and 19-year-old Emrick Charlebois-Marcoux from Sorel Tracy, Qc, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand and were charged with arson. They were both remanded into custody on an unrelated matter and will reappear in court on December 8, 2025.
Original news release (July 23, 2024): The Shediac RCMP is seeking the public's help in connection with an arson at a business in the community.
On June 25, 2024, at approximately 4 a.m., members of the Shediac RCMP received a report of a fire that had occurred at a business on Main Street.
Through the investigation, it was determined that the fire had been intentionally set inside the business and caused an explosion.
Police are now releasing photos of two persons of interest who were in the area at the time of the incident, in hopes that someone may recognize them.
Anyone who recognizes the individuals in the photos, or who has information that could help further the investigation is asked to contact the Shediac RCMP at 506-533-5151. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
The investigation is ongoing.
