44-year-old man charged with human trafficking-related offences

A 44-year-old man from the Hampton region, N.B., has been charged in connection with an investigation into sexual assault and human trafficking in the community. 

In November 2025, the Hampton RCMP detachment began an investigation into reports of human trafficking of multiple adult females in the communities of Moncton, Saint John and Hampton, N.B. 

On January 16, 2026, members of the Hampton RCMP and the Southeast Crime Reduction Unit arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with the investigation. 

The same day, the man appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was charged with: 

  • Two counts of sexual assault
  • Two counts of uttering threats 
  • Human trafficking
  • Assault
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Sexual assault with a weapon
  • Administering a noxious thing

He was held in police custody for a bail hearing and was later released on conditions by the courts. Due to a publication ban, we are unable to name the individual.
