Updated Alert Ready, RCMP still searching for escaped inmate

The New Brunswick RCMP has ended the Alert Ready message for the Province of New Brunswick, but police are still searching for a 35-year-old man who escaped from the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac. 

On February 13, 2026, at approximately 12:20 p.m., the New Brunswick RCMP issued an Alert Ready message to advise residents of the province that police were searching for Todd John Lewis, who had escaped from a prison in Shediac. Residents were advised not to approach the man and to call 911 or the New Brunswick RCMP.

On February 14, at 1:16 p.m., the New Brunswick RCMP issued an Alert Ready message, advising the public that although the alert for the escapee has ended, police are still actively searching for Todd John Lewis. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any sightings to police. 

Members of the public may continue to observe an increased police presence as police continue their search and follow-up on tips. The NB RCMP appreciates all the tips and information provided by members of the public in relation to this investigation thus far.
